Canada’s largest military and defence trade show attracting record number of participants

Canada’s largest defence trade show, CANSEC 2014, opened in Ottawa on Wednesday (May 28) expecting a record number of participants: 10,000 registrants and 335 exhibiting companies.

Military delegations from 15 countries have confirmed their attendance: Argentina, Bahrain, Chile, Denmark, Equatorial Guinea, Israel, Italy, Kuwait, Mexico, New Zealand, Oman, Peru, the United States, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

The trade show is organized by the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI).

In a press release, CADSI’s president Tim Page said: “A robust domestic defence industrial sector brings significant economic and sovereignty related benefits.”

“Even in the face of a softening in Canadian and American defence spending, the continued growth of our trade show is evidence of a domestic industry that produces world-class equipment and services, and, with a level playing field, can compete and win in the international marketplace.”
