Elvis tribute artists are coming from all over North America and Europe, as well as one from Australia, to compete and mingle with the crowds who still love the King.
Collingwood, Ontario is celebrating the 20th anniversary this year of its annual “Elvis Festival“. And to honour the occasion the festival will feature the one and only, Mrs. Presley!
Priscilla will be feted at a gala dinner this evening and attend the official opening of the celebration tomorrow. It is Priscilla Presley’s first overnight in Canada, and she’ll take part in two book signings tomorrow.
‘Shades of Elvis‘ is the book she co-produced with photographer Christopher Ameruoso this year. It features Elvis’s actual sunglasses on the faces of many other celebrities; people such as Buzz Aldrin, Robert Plant, Michael Buble, Celine Dion, Helen Mirren, Charlie Sheen and Bo Derek, to name a few, all got to see the world through Elvis’s lenses.
The gathering that began in 1995 with Elvis tribute artist, Billy Cann, in one room on one day with a thousand people, has now grown into a 5-day festival with 133 Elvis’s. Over the years they’ve ranged in age from 3 to 77, and this year they’ll be entertaining an estmated 40,000 people.
