Canadian government’s financial literacy campaign features ‘selfie’ photos contest

As part of a financial literacy month campaign, a Canadian government agency is holding a “selfie” photo contest “showing how financial literacy is important”. A news release from the Department of Finance Canada on Friday (October 17) announced the contest run by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada.

The announcement encouraged people to “Simply snap a picture of yourself depicting how you are putting your financial literacy skills to use, or how you are helping to stren[g]then the financial literacy of others.”

The “Financial Literacy Month in Canada” Facebook page includes a photo of Kevin Sorenson, the Minister of State (Finance) holding a mug of coffee and the caption “By making coffee at home in the morning and using a travel mug, I can cut back on my spending and keep my coffee warm longer!”

The contest is open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada or protected persons designated by the Immigration and Refugee Board or Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

The selfie entries must be submitted by 11:59 AM (Ottawa time) on November 19, 2014.

There are three prizes, all Apple products.
