Ministers, general questioned at Commons committee about Canadian mission in Iraq

For the fourth day in a row, Canada’s military mission in Iraq was the focus of political discussion in Ottawa.

Thursday morning (January 29) Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird, Defence Minister Rob Nicholson, Chief of Defence Staff General Tom Lawson and others were before a joint meeting of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs and Defence committees answering questions about the mission.

The opposition parties continue to insist the military mission to advise and assist is turning into a combat mission. The government continues to reject that view.
