National Gallery of Canada to feature artist Alex Colville

The National Gallery of Canada will be featuring the work of Canadian artist Alex Colville this summer in a huge retrospective of his photo-realistic paintings.

“We are dedicating the summer of 2015 to the work of a great Canadian artist: Alex Colville. This large retrospective organized by the Art Gallery of Ontario was a resounding success in Toronto last fall and we are excited to bring it to Ottawa,” said director and CEO Marc Mayer in statement released Wednesday (February 18).

Born in Toronto in 1920, Colville’s distinctive paintings often featured everyday life and funny moments. He died in 2013.

The National Gallery of Canada exhibition will start on April 23 and end on September 7.
