Legendary singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell in Los Angeles hospital

Multiple media reports say legendary singer-songwriter Joni Michell is in a Los Angeles hospital. It appears she was taken to the hospital late Tuesday (March 31) night.

A producer with Canada’s national public broadcaster CBC, Leslie Stojsic, tweeted Wednesday that sources told her Mitchell is “in hospital recovering after “minor medical emergency,” was *not* found unconscious” unlike some earlier reports suggested based on a privately owned website JoniMitchell.com which is not run by Mitchell or her management.

The 71 year old Mitchell has received eight American Grammy Awards, including a lifetime achievement award in 2002. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. She was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1981.

She is best known for such songs as Both Sides Now and Big Yellow Taxi.

She was born Roberta Joan Anderson on November 7, 1943, in Fort Macleod in the western Canadian prairie province of Alberta.
