Alex Trebek in Ottawa for a major honour at his alma mater

Alex Trebek was in Ottawa yesterday. The host of the popular Amercian television game-show ‘Jeopardy’, spent some time watching Canadian politicians at work during Question Period in Parliament.

“I’m very proud of the fact that my presence was the only moment in the entire Question Period in which all of the members seemed to be in agreement. They all got up and waved hi to me.” Trebek told repoters afterward.

The quiz show host came to the Canadian capital city for the inauguration of the Alex Trebek Alumni Hall at the University of Ottawa. The hall was named after Trebek following his $2.4 million donation to the school, where he was once a student.

He will be spending the next few weeks in his hometown of Sudbury, Ontario, the nickel capital of the world.  “It has come a long way. They’ve cleaned up the atmosphere as you all know more than I. It is now a much friendlier place for families in which to develop.”

After completing his education in Ottawa Trebek moved to Toronto to pursue a broadcasting career. The next move to the United States eventually led to hosting Jeopardy.  He began in 1984 and renewed his contract to continue hosting the show until 2018.
