The Toronto International Film Festival is offering a new prize of $25,000 for “artistically ambitious international films.” Twelve films will be showcased for their “high artistic merit that demonstrate(s) a strong directorial vision by significant international filmmakers.”
The stated goal is to highlight high-quality cinema from around the world and to give the next generation of filmmakers global visibility. A three-person international jury will choose the best film. Jury members’ names and the film lineup will be made public in the coming months.
This will be the 40th year for the festival which runs from September 10-20
