Canadians love their Tim Hortons coffee, and one in particular loves the fact that a pre-paid card from the chain of shops led to the recovery stolen goods and two arrests.
As CBC reports, a woman from the western province of Alberta was visiting a lovely national park in the eastern province of Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.). When she returned to her car she saw the windows had been smashed and several items stolen.
Technology has many uses
Among them was her TimCard which is programmed to connect to her smart phone. She subsequently got a notice on her phone that the card was being used at a Tim Hortons store in nearby Cavendish.
She alerted police and two suspects were arrested. A number of stolen items were recovered, including the card.
A 37-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman from Summerside, P.E.I. will face criminal charges in connection with several smash-and-grab incidents at P.E.I. National Park and in North Rustico.
Who knew? P.E.I. is small with notoriously friendly residents and a great place to vacation.
