The maker of winter jackets, Moose Knuckles, had reached a mediated agreement with the Canadian government’s Competition Bureau. At issue was the labelling of products as “made in Canada” when, in fact, certain parkas were mostly made in Vietnam and other Asian countries.
Several Canadian laws prohibit “the making of false or misleading representations on product labels.”
As part of the settlement, Moose Knuckles agreed to donate $750,000 to Canadian charities that give winter jackets to needy children. The company also agreed to clarify labels on its products with regards to where they and their components were made. It will also add operations at its Canadian factories.
