Canada’s new National Basketball League will have a team in St. John’s Newfoundland to be known as “the Edge”.
The team revealed its logo and announced its name at a ceremony at a Junior High school yesterday in the province’s capital.
“It’s got a fan base that has enjoyed all kinds of sports”
“I truly believe you’re going to see some of the best athletes in the world run and down this court,” Edge head coach, John Graham, told the crowd gathered for the event.
Tickets for the inaugural season go on sale this Friday at noon. The team will need to fill at least 1500 seats each game to keep it viable.
Team owner, John Graham told CBC he had faith in the Atlantic province’s only city.
“It’s got a fan base that has enjoyed all kinds of sports,” he said.
We’ll look into the emergence of this new league in the country where the sport of basketball began.
