Conversations with Dr Ron Deibert, Sunil Rao and Nadia Sandhu
MASALA CANADA with WOJTEK GWIAZDA
On this edition of MASALA CANADA I talk to Dr Ron Deibert, a cyberspace and global security expert who is the Director of the Citizen Lab at the Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto. We’ll look at the issues of Internet freedom and surveillance, and what can be learned about Internet freedom and protests such as those in Egypt over the past few weeks.
Sunil Rao the editor of the popular “South Asian Focus” newspaper, based in the city of Brampton just west of Toronto and I discuss an issue that’s got the South Asian community in the Toronto area buzzing: a decision by the Canadian government to cut down the number of parents and grandparents they will allow into the country as part of its family reunification program.
And I’ll talk to Nadia Sandhu who’s responsible for marketing at the “Friends of South Asia” which promotes South Asian art and culture through the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. Next Saturday, February 26, they’re holding their 3rd annual South Asian Heritage Day at the Museum with a special event marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Nobel Prize winning artist and poet Rabindranath Tagore.
