There are 3 contestants remaining in the reality TV show called “Over the Rainbow.” Tonight’s the night the new Dorothy will be chosen. Described as the nation-wide search for a star, the winner will get the lead role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s adaptation of The Wizard of Oz.

10 contestants started singing for the role in mid-June. Each episode Canadian viewers chose their least favorite, and the two young women with the most votes, would battle it out in a sing-off, to win the right to stay. Now the final 3 contenders await the result.

Lloyd Webber and collaborator Tim Rice have written 4 new songs for the production. Rehearsals will begin for the opening night, December 20th at the Ed Mirvish Theatre in Toronto. The contest is also looking for a “Toto too!” (CK)
