Justin Bieber meets Prime Minister Stephen Harper

The Diamond Jubilee Medal was created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. Last Friday, it was given to one of the most famous Canadians.

Pop sensation, Justin Bieber, the 18 year-old from Stratford, Ontario is now among the 60,000 Canadians to receive the honour for “significant contributions and achievements". But he was one of the few to receive the honour directly from Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

It must have been quite a surprise, as Beiber soon tweeted “I just met the Prime Minister in overalls.” Currently on a world-tour, Justin Bieber plays Montreal tonight followed by two nights at Madison Square Garden in New York City. (ck)
