NEW AGENCY TO HELP QUEBEC IMMIGRANTS

A new agency was launched in Quebec last month to help immigrants find work. Le Carrefour jeunesse-emploi La Pinìere or the La Piniere Youth Employment Centre will offer courses in the French language and different skills to enable immigrants to integrate themselves more easily into the workforce. Studies show that immigrants in the Quebec region known as the Monteregie have an unemployment rate that is three times higher than among native-born Canadians. Upon opening, the Centre welcomed 15 students who will receive more than 600 hours of instruction. The Centre will provide training for two groups of 15 students each year.
