Conversations with Dianne Watts, Bryan Adams, Anand Giridharadas

MASALA CANADA with WOJTEK GWIAZDA

On this edition of MASALA CANADA I talk to Dianne Watts, the mayor of the Pacific coast Canadian city of Surrey. She’s leading a business delegation from the city to India next month. Surrey is one of the cities with the highest percentage of Indo-Canadians in Canada – with 27 per cent of Indian origin.

Someone else who’s going to India, as well as Nepal, next month is Canadian rock singing icon Bryan Adams. He’ll tell us why he’s going, have greetings for our listeners in India and Nepal. He’ll talk about his just released acoustic live album “Bare Bones”. And yes, we’ll get to hear three songs from the new album. [At 17:23 in show.]

And columnist and author Anand Giridharadas and I talk about the book he’s just come out with,  a book a lot of people are talking about: “India Calling – An Intimate Portrait of a Nation’s Remaking”. It’s his story of discovery of a new India as the American born son of parents who decided to make the U.S. their home. [At 36:20 in show.]
