Hepatitis outbreak at school in Sweden’s Far North

Photo: AFP/Jonathan NackstrandThere’s been an outbreak of Hepatitis A at the Porsö School in Luleå, at city of approximately 47,000 people in Sweden’s Far North. To prevent the further spread of the infection all the students at the school have been offered vaccinations.

The first case ever of Hepatitus A in the area was discovered last week in a student from the school. The Hepatitis virus is rare in Sweden, and is spread through water contaminated by sewage or through food.
