Finnish government convenes over Talvivaara mine leak

The cabinet is to hold a press conference after the meeting around 1.30 pm. Those taking part in the press conference will include the Prime Minister, the Minister of Economic Affairs and the Minister of the Environment.

On Wednesday, government party chairs discussed the leak at the Talvivaara gypsum pond and further measures to be taken regarding the mine.

The chairs agreed that the sequence of events at Talvivaara should be investigated in detail and that questions of responsibility also be clarified. Changes to legislation were also proposed.
