Fortum to build biofuel power plant in Sweden

Sketches of a biofuel power plant, from Värnamo energi. Radio Sweden.Swedish energy company Fortum is investing 4.4 billion SEK in a biofuel power plant in Stockholm. Construction will start in January 2013, with the opening set for 2016.

The power plant will produce renewable electricity and is expected to help reduce the overall use of fossil fuel power plants in the Nordic countries and in Europe.

Fortum estimates that the new plant will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 650,000 tons per year.
