Swimmers take the plunge in North Sweden
The Scandinavian championships in winter swimming kick off today in Skellefteå, north Sweden.
The race takes place in the frozen Skellefte river – and it is not much warmer above surface, as temperatures dropped to minus 13 degrees Celsius today.
In today’s races two swimmers from Stöcke outside the city of Umeå will attempt to qualify for the world championships by swimming 450 metres back and forth in an ice hole.
