Tourism is on the rise in Sweden’s capital, and the CEO of Visit Stockholm thinks the increased interest has partly to do with the attraction of Swedish values.

Tourists spent 50,000 more nights in Stockholm this June than the same month last year. One of the fastest growing markets for Swedish tourism is China.

“We are about 40 per cent up on Chinese tourism to Stockholm,” Andersson said. “Last year alone, 30 million Chinese received passports for the first time. These 30 million Chinese are going abroad… I am very happy that Stockholm stands out.”

He said that tourists are drawn to the atmosphere created by Stockholmers.

“The people that live here have a global perspective and are open minded so when you come here you get a grasp of that feeling,” he said.
