Intense downpour in the southern part of Norrland in northern Sweden has caused trouble for locals. Basements filled up, a bridge was on the edge of collapse, and there were telephone outages.

Between 100 and 120 millimeters of rain fell in the eastern Söderhamn area. The storm closed down telephone services in the nearby Ljusdal area, including access to the emergency number 112.

Rail traffic between the municipalities of  Söderhamn and Hudiksvall came to a stop because of a flooded tunnel.

The weather is not expected to improve in the North until Thursday.
