Born in 1990 into a Chinese-Canadian family, Chan started skating at the age of 5. Patrick Chan’s parents immigrated to Canada from Hong Kong when they were kids.
He is the 2011 & 2012 World champion, a two-time (2010 & 2011) Grand Prix Final champion, a two-time (2009 & 2012) Four Continents champion and a five-time (2008–2012) Canadian champion. At the 2010 Canadian Championships, he was nominated to represent Canada at the 2010 Winter Olympics,where he placed fifth in the men’s event. In 2011 Chan set the world records in both men’s free skate short program and long program.
In recognition, Chan was named the recipient of the prestigious Lou Marsh Award as Canada’s top athlete.

J’aimerais tout simplement transmettre à ce grand du patinage artistique toute la fierté qu”il procure à notre peuple.
Il pratique son art avec brio. Tellement d’émotion se dégage de ses interprétations que tous les défis techniques deviennent images de sensibilité, de beauté et d’émotion.
Quand dans une routine, un saut ressemble au vol du papillon, quand une pirouette nous élève tellement elle semble légère, quand juste le fait de déposer sa l’âme sur la glace ressemble à une caresse, le patinage artistique se transforme en un geste musical d’une élégance telle que seul un tres grand artiste arrive à exprimer.
Je ne regarde pas ce patineur, je l’accompagné dans sa robuste fragilité.
J’ai 73 ans, je suis une artiste dans un autre domaine, mélomane et j’adore cette discipline sportive et artistique.
