Calgary means booming business for luxury real estate company

The number of luxury properties for sale in Calgary is on the rise, and Sotheby’s International Realty Canada wants to profit from that expanding market. After only two years in the area, the company is planning to triple its team, from 20 to 60 realtors, and move to new offices.

Calgary’s real estate is expected to be the best performing among major Canadian cities this year, and the luxury homes market is doing particularly well. In May, there were 94 luxury home sales in the area, setting a new record for transactions in any month.

“Calgary has undergone a massive transformation in recent years. Top-tier real estate in the city and surrounding areas is in high demand not just from local homebuyers, but from those travelling and moving here from other parts of the country and around the world,” says in a press release Ross McCredie, President and CEO of Sotheby’s International Realty Canada. “Our growth here reflects confidence in Calgary’s appeal locally and internationally.”

Sotheby’s also plans to offer private jet and helicopter services for luxury homebuyers who want to shop in the city.
