Norwegian customers return to border shops in Sweden

Customers are once again crossing the border to do their shopping. (Victor Jensen/Sveriges Radio)
  • The trade along the Norwegian border took a massive hit during the pandemic as a result of travel restrictions.
  • Now that Norway has eased some of their restrictions, the border trade has gone up again. In Strömstad, almost half of the customers have returned at the supermarket chain EUROcash.
  • Although things are looking up, there’s still a long way to go. According to the Swedish Trade Federation border trade is still down about 80 percent compared to before the pandemic.

Can anyone tell me what is required to cross the border from Lapland into Norway?
How strict is the border? Are there ID checks?
    Thanks for any information.
