Forests

Forests cover about 60% of the land in British Columbia. Forestry is one of the main industries of the province. In coastal forests, humid climate protects the ecosystem from fires, promoting the growth of gigantic trees. Thuja plicata trees, also called Western or Pacific red cedar, can reach a diameter of six meters and live beyond a thousand years!
