Body of missing 14-year-old boy found in Arctic Bay, Nunavut

Richard Jr Bohlender, also known as Jaaji, was reported missing on June 30

Nunavut RCMP say the body of a teenaged boy who went missing in June in Arctic Bay has been found.

Fourteen-year-old Richard Jr Bohlender, also known as Jaaji, was last seen on June 28, and reported missing a couple of days later. A search effort was launched in Arctic Bay and then suspended on July 8.

RCMP said in a news release on Tuesday that they received a report on Saturday afternoon of human remains found on shore behind a residence in the 200 block in the community.

Police retrieved the body and have confirmed the identity as Bohlender.

RCMP say the boy’s family has been notified.

Police and the Nunavut coroner are still investigating.
