Swedish farmers cautiously optimistic about harvest after last year’s drought
After last summer’s extreme drought wreaked havoc on crops all around the country, the Federation of Swedish Farmers (LRF) says many members are quietly hopeful about this year’s crops.
LRF has collected reports from farmers all around the country for an update on the situation in the fields.
“In general, it looks quite good, much better than last year, which was a disaster. There are still some on the east-coast that needs more rain, and it probably will not be the best harvest,” said Lennart Nilsson, board member of the organisation.
Radio Sweden interviewed him over the phone, when he was sitting in his tractor, working with the grass harvest near the west coast in Halland county.
