Canada ranked first among G7 countries in terms of population growth from 2011 to 2016, with average annual growth of 1.0%.
As in Canada, other G7 countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy show the increase in migration as the main driver of population growth.
In addition, three G7 countries – Germany, Italy and Japan – had more deaths than births in recent years, which meant that their population growth was based solely on migratory growth.
