brown_patrickBorn in the United Kingdom, Patrick Brown arrived in Montreal in 1971. He joined Radio Canada International as an editor in 1974 before becoming a national reporter for CBC Radio News in Montreal in 1976.

In 1980, Patrick Brown moved to London to work as a foreign correspondent.  Then he spent over a decade in China, as the chief correspondent in Asia for the CBC based in Beijing, working in both official languages. He later reported from New Delhi and Bangkok.

Patrick Brown has been honored with three Gemini Awards for his news reporting, and in 2011, from the Canadian Journalism Foundation, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award.
