Swedish wind farms to power Google
Four new wind parks, to be built in southern Sweden, will power internet giant Google’s data center in Finland.
The Swedish wind power company Eolus has signed a 10 year contract with Google. Eolus vice president and head of sales Hans-Christian Schulze told Swedish news agency TT that it will be good for his company because of the instability of prices in the energy market.
Google’s global infrastructure chief, Francois Sterin, told TT that Google always strives to use as much renewable energy as possible in their data centers. He also said that they upload any excess power generated to the national grid.
