Swedish PM on Trump comments: Only Denmark and Greenland decide
- Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has come out in support of neighbouring Denmark following US president-elect Donald Trump’s threats to annex Greenland.
- “Only Denmark and Greenland decide on issues concerning Denmark and Greenland, and Sweden obviously stands behind our neighbouring country on these issues. I expressed my support directly to Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen when we spoke yesterday,” Kristersson said in a comment to news agency TT on Thursday.
- Trump has recently refused to rule out using military or economic means to take over Greenland, which is home to a US military base but is an autonomous territory of Denmark.
