Sweden’s Armed Forces: Railways must function without modern technology

  • While new modern data-driven technical solutions for Sweden’s national railways are being introduced, the needs of the country’s armed forces are at a more fundamental level.
  • Lieutenant Colonel Per-Ove Norell, who’s responsible for transport issues at the defence staff, points out that the railways need to function even under very disruptive and difficult conditions if the Swedish Armed Forces are to be able to use them.
  • “It must absolutely be possible to use rail traffic without electricity and signalling systems,” he tells Swedish Radio News.
