18-year-old charged in fatal hit and run in Salluit, Nunavik
An 18-year-old woman faces several charges after a fatal hit and run in Salluit, Nunavik.
Nunavik police say the incident happened early in the morning of Aug. 6.
They received a report from the suspect’s friends that she was intoxicated — when she struck somebody with her vehicle.
The friends alerted the police to a car near the airport and the body of the 49-year-old victim.
Police said the collision happened while the victim was walking on the road near the airport.
The suspect faces charges of impaired driving causing death and failure to stop after an accident causing death.
She remains in police custody.
