Hikers rescued in North Sweden

The hikers got stuck on Södra Sytertoppen, the peak to the left, Photo: Wikimedia Commons. Radio Sweden. Two mountain hikers have now been rescued after getting stuck on a mountain summit close to Hemavan, a community in northern Sweden.

Using a cellphone the hikers told police that they were stuck and could neither climb further up the mountain, nor get down.

The search was called off overnight, and poor weather conditions with wind, rain and cloud mean helicopters could not be used in the rescue attempts at first.
