RCI on exhibit

8

To celebrate its 70th anniversary, Radio Canada International put together an exhibit tracing its incredible history. Visitors got a sense of how our listeners were able to tune us in around the globe, thanks to a variety of shortwave radio sets Montreal’s’ Musée des ondes Émile Berliner lent to us for the exhibit.

8 large panels showed photos of many broadcast artists who worked at RCI over its seven decades on the air, and visitors also got to know our Voice of Canada announcers.

Also on exhibit were several awards garnered by RCI, vinyl records recorded by its Musical Transcriptions Service, CD box sets of RCI-produced language courses, and one very special 33 rpm record! It contains a recording of a 1949 La Voix du Canada program hosted by René Lévesque, who was a radio announcer and journalist before he became premier of Quebec from 1976 to 1985.

Two books have been written about RCI, and they were also included in the exhibit.

Visitors had access to eight computers to pore over RCI’s history via audio, video and photos, and so they could visit RCI’s current website in any of our five broadcast languages.

And now, here’s your chance to check out our exhibit in photos by our colleague Leo Gimeno.

  4. I am sure that RCI has organized an excellent exhibition, because over 70 years of work they have probably accumulated a lot of material and valuable exhibits that they could show to all interested parties. And these are not only photographs of many broadcast artists who have worked at the radio station for 70 years. But these are also many awards received by RCI and gifts from celebrities who came here for interviews. I really hope that RCI will one day make a permanent exhibition with all these exhibits. I can even recommend a company that could form this exposition in the best way. This is the company CARSHE it has more than 30 years of experience in the design of exhibitions around the world and builds the best exhibition stands that cause admiration among participants of the events. This company employs creative designers and highly qualified engineers who can develop any exhibition equipment. We have been working with them since 2007 and have always been completely satisfied with our cooperation.

  5. The exhibition is also an opportunity for Radio Canada International to look back on the process that has taken place. There have been ups and downs. If you have the opportunity, everyone should participate in this exhibition.
