Blizzards moves up Sweden’s east coast
The Swedish Weather Service is continuing to warn of heavy snowfall and winds for central and northern parts of Sweden Thursday, although the worst of the weather has now passed Stockholm and moved on.
Bus traffic in the town of Lidköping in Sweden’s south is still facing trouble, and school buses have been cancelled due to the weather.
Thousands of passengers were stranded Wednesday as Stockholm’s main airports were put out of action due to the blizzard, and much of Stockholm’s public transport was at a standstill.
By Thursday though, planes were once again landing and taking off.
Swedish railways, SJ, have cancelled over 50 departures, Swedish Radio News reports, in order to give engineers time to clear the snow from the tracks and switches.
