Stuck in Iqaluit
Weather: -11c and cloudy
Iqaluit, Nunavut – We’re stuck in Iqaluit today because there’s no flight to Cape Dorset until tomorrow. I spend the entire day working the phones trying to reschedule interviews and figuring out how to cram what was planned as a five-and-a-half-day shoot into a two-and-a-half-day shoot.
I speak to Jimmy, the awesome translator I’ve mentioned in previous posts, several times. He said Liina, the translator he suggested as his replacement, has been called away to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories and that she won’t be in town either.
That means we have no translator in Dorset who specializes in translating for the artists.
I’m beginning to realize getting to Cape Dorset will be only half the battle. The rest will be making this shoot work.
We’ll just have to see what happens when we get there.
