Baltic ferry between Finland and Sweden may go bankrupt

The ferry line that connects two northern Swedish and Finnish cities is close to bankruptcy, reports Swedish Radio Västerbotten.

The RG Line runs in the northern Gulf of Bothnia, between Umeå and Vaas – a Finnish city with a large Swedish-speaking minority.

The CEO of RG Line says to Finnish local paper Vasabladet that the company is hoping to survive by getting economic support from the two cities it connects. On Friday RG Line started discussions with the Vaasa city authority, and on Wednesday it will enter talks with Umeå.

RG Line has not made a profit since 2008.
