The “Olkiluoto Blockade” demonstration is aimed at pressuring for a phasing out of nuclear power in the country.

In 2010 demonstrators succeeded in closing down nearby Highway 8, a major route in the area.

Police officials say that they will not stand by if demonstrators attempt to close roads.

Two years ago, around 40 people were taken into custody during a similar demonstration.

There will be an upgraded police presence in the Olkiluoto area on Saturday to keep traffic moving and to ensure order and security.
