Wolf hunt underway in Sweden
Day two of this year’s controversial wolf hunt has been somewhat of a fizzle. The hunters who did venture out apparently decided the weather was too poor and went back home again.
On Saturday three wolves were shot, of the planned 16. But one hunt refused to take part, saying the local wolves behaved the way they wanted them to, and there was no reason to kill any.
The European Commission has strongly criticised the wolf hunt, threatening to take Sweden to the European Court.
The authorities here say they want to kill 8 percent of this country’s 200 wolves in order to strengthen the animals by reducing inbreeding.
