Sweden and the US sign historic defence deal

  • Sweden and the United States have signed a historic defence cooperation agreement.
  • Under the deal, the US military gain access to 17 military bases around the country.
  • Defence minister Pål Jonson says the defence deal gives Sweden a greater opportunity to receive military assistance from the United States in the event of war.
