Farming land to be used for solar parks in Sweden
- Areas of rich farming land in Skåne in the south of Sweden will have to be used for solar power parks, according to an internal document from the local County Administrative Board, Swedish Radio News reports.
- The use of other land is seen as not enough to meet future needs for fossil-free electricity production in Skåne, which the County Board says is of societal importance.
- Skåne has the country’s best agricultural land, and in recent years the County Administrative Board has rejected several applications for solar parks on the grounds of protecting land used for farming.
