Northvolt to lay off 1600 employees in Sweden

  • Battery manufacturer Northvolt has announced it is to lay off around 25% of its workforce in Sweden as it attempts to cut costs.
  • Worst hit by the redundancies will be its battery factory in the northern Swedish town of Skellefteå.
  • In a press release the company’s CEO Peter Carlsson writes that the decisions have been challenging and painful, but that they are necessary.
