Man found deceased in water near Paulatuk, N.W.T.

A man has been found deceased after a search and rescue effort near Paulatuk, N.W.T.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. Monday, Paulatuk RCMP were notified that the man had left a whaling camp in a boat to travel to Paulatuk. The man was believed to be intoxicated and was travelling alone, RCMP said in a news release Tuesday.

RCMP began a search and located the man and the boat he was travelling in, at about 11:48 a.m.

He was found deceased in the water.

The RCMP extended its condolences to the family.

Police say the matter remains under investigation in partnership with the N.W.T. coroner’s office.
