Swedish glaciers are still melting — but by less than last year

- Sweden’s glaciers are still shrinking, but this year’s melt was much smaller compared to 2024’s record.
- Glaciologist Nina Kirchner from Stockholm University has been involved in measuring the glaciers, and says heavy snow cover protected them from this summer’s heatwave.
- But even though this years recorded melt is less, she says the glaciers are still getting smaller and smaller.
