Eight Swedish glaciers melted away: ‘It’s a very clear sign’

- High-resolution satellite images show that eight glaciers in Sweden have melted away between 2023 and late summer 2024.
- The glaciers were small, but their loss affects local water supplies and signals irreversible change, experts say.
- Around 30 other similarly small glaciers in Sweden could disappear after another very warm summer says professor Nina Kirchner, a glaciologist and head of Tarfala Research Station in North of Sweden.
