The Montreal International Music Competition (MIMC) is designed for conservatory trained clasical musicians who are in the early stages or just beginning a professional career as soloists. Like many such competitions, it features the three most common fields for those seeking careers as soloists, that is , violin, piano, and voice. These disciplines are rotated on a a three year basis, and this year the featured instrument is violin.
This year well over 100 hopefuls sent in auditions. This was whittled down to the 23 representing 13 countries, who would be invited to this competition in Canada which runs from may 7th to the 17th. They’ll compete for $130,000 in prizes and engagements.

The finalists will also perform with the OSM, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. These events are always considered a rare treat for the public who get to see some of the top future talents in the world. There are also other related events for the public as well
