NXNE

North by North East is the festival of 1000 bands, 150 comedians, 65 NXNEi Sessions and 60 artists.  And it’s still only half the size of SXSW, the Texas gathering that brings fans and visitors to Austin from all over the world in early March.

By all accounts, Toronto’s 19th edition of NXNE was a big success.  It included ‘Put the Boot In’ a charity soccer match, and the first annual Back Yard Concert.  Both events raised money for Right to Play, and on the pitch, the Rollers beat the Rockers 5 – 2.

Some of the musical performances to remember were provided by Peterborough, Ontario’s Express & Company and the early morning party provided by Wannabe, a Spice Girl Tribute Band.  And then Ludacris pulled everyone into Dundas Sqaure for a blowout finale Sunday night.

Next year’s NXNE 20th anniversary might be even bigger it not better.
