Listena story about orangutans using computers.
As part of an idea by an American orangutan conservationists, the Toronto Zoo acquired a computer tablet from a donor, and a Toronto IT film SplitElement began working with the zoo to develop apps that were more suited to the orangutans large fingers which don’t have the same level of dexterity as human fingers.
The whole idea is that these are highly intelligent creatures and need intellectual stimulation and that working with computers would provide that. This is also seen as a step towards deeloping “inter-species communications” .
According to Christopher Lewis who helped develop the orangutan app, this is just the beginning and there’s a lot of very exciting things to come working with these marvelous animals.
Recently a photo of completely veiled women at a private Montreal daycare provoked a lot of online commentary, and comes as acrimonious debate continues over Quebec’s charter on secularism.

Unfortunately some of the online comments in connection with the photo of the daycare workers was very abusive.
Lynn spoke with Matthew Johnson, director of education for MediaSmarts about how and why racism and hatred can be so easily disseminated on the web
And Canadian foreign policy is bound to change with the a new government decision.

Canada’s International Trade Minister made a rather significant announcement, accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister, John Baird,
The announcemt was that all diplomatic assets of the Government of Canada will now be used in support of the pursuit of commercial success by Canadian companies and investors.
Wojtek has that story.
We hope you enjoy the show and as always, we welcome your comments.
